UFC commentator makes shocking offer to defeated fighter as fans rage over ‘steal of the year’ at UFC 308 – UFC News

A top UFC commentator has made an outrageous offer after a fighter was apparently robbed during his fight on Saturday night.

In what could be the biggest UFC fight of the year, featherweight champion Ilia Topuria will defend his title against former champion Max Holloway on Saturday night.

But before the two men meet in the cage, an exciting series of fights begins, including the long-awaited return of Khamzat Chimaev.

However, after the card kicked off on Saturday night, one UFC commentator felt compelled to make a crazy offer to a fighter after seemingly being robbed of a win.

In the first fight of the evening, Brazilian Carlos Leal started the evening against Rinat Fakhretdinov in a short welterweight bout.

Leal went into the fight as favorite and seemed to do enough to seal the victory, with most thinking he had clearly won two of the three rounds.

However, when the judges’ scorecards were read out, it was Fakhretdinov who was announced the winner via unanimous decision, extending his win streak to six.

And in the aftermath of the apparent robbery, legendary UFC commentator Jon Anik offered to send his own money to the Brazilian fighter because he felt so sorry for him.

Speaking to co-commentators Daniel Cormier and Paul Felder, Anik said: “I think I’m going to give Carlos Leal some money later tonight, I feel so sorry for him.”

Fans on social media agreed with the commentary team as they took to the internet to express their outrage over the decision.

Another agreed, adding: “Fakhretdinov was beaten every round and was 2/19 on takedown attempts. There is literally no possible justification for losing Carlos Leal.”

However, one fan argued that the decision wasn’t as bad as others thought, writing: “30-27 is bad, but honestly, fine for Fakhretdinov to win that one. He did a lot and the commentary team just completely ignored it.”
