BROOKHAVEN – Severe weather forecast for Saturday now poses a greater risk. National Weather Service is first warning that isolated storms may move through Lincoln County in the early hours of Friday morning, followed by more hazards this weekend.
Friday’s isolated severe storms could bring damaging winds and tornadoes cannot be ruled out. NWS Jackson advises that storms could threaten between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. Friday. These hours may change as the forecast is updated.
Heavy storms are possible in the area from Saturday to Saturday, bringing an increased risk. The storms could bring damaging wind gusts of up to 75 miles per hour. Large hail up to golf ball size may be accompanied by rain and tornadoes are likely.
From this evening, heavy rainfall could threaten the area with localized flash flooding over the weekend. Anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain could fall over the next few days. NWS Jackson advises that some periods of heavy rainfall may begin tonight through Saturday night.
