Easy weather on Christmas Day

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – Merry christmas! The entire First Alert Weather team is sending you warm wishes today, along with a calm forecast! Thanks to Monday’s snow, a White Christmas officially goes into the books today. In the past five years, Saginaw and Flint have each had just one official White Christmas.

If you like snow, unfortunately the trend continues to favor major melts this weekend with a mix of warm temperatures and rain. Take a look at the TV5 First warning 7-day forecast.

Today

When you wake up on this Christmas morning, we already have calm weather, only the clouds persist. They will remain for the rest of the day, while temperatures will also remain stable. We’re already starting just on either side of 30 degrees, with highs only reaching 33 degrees. The normal high for Christmas Day is 32 degrees, so this will be an “average” day. Southeast winds remain at 5 miles per hour or less, so the good news regarding wind chill is that there will be no wind at all today!

Some stray flurries are also possible today, but this chance is quite small and unorganized. If there are any flurries, they will be short and insignificant with regard to our paths.

This evening

The clouds will continue to hold tonight and the calm wind will continue. Lows will only drop about two or three degrees from where highs will be in the afternoon, leaving many around 31 degrees at night. Generally speaking, the weather will be easy overnight and Thursday for the commute if you’re back at work tomorrow.

Thursday

Clouds will also remain persistent during the day, but the maximum temperatures will be more above freezing. Many should be able to reach 38 degrees, although 40 degrees around Fenton, Grand Blanc and Flint are not even out of the question for a few hours. The southeast wind remains weak at 5 to 10 km/hour.

There may also be some spotty drizzle, but like Christmas Day, anything capable of that will be quite disorganized. This means you may also encounter foggy or hazy conditions, but not exactly ‘rainfall’. When temperatures are above freezing, road conditions are not a problem.
