A brazen thief is on the run after an armed robbery of a Walgreens in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday, one of the latest crimes to plague one of the most dangerous cities in the country.
The man burst into a Walgreens on Macon Road around 1:30 a.m., carrying two guns in each hand. according to Memphis policewho shared video of the surprising scene.

The unknown man demanded that the church service employees take the available money and make off with an undisclosed amount of money.
He wore all-black clothing, including an unusual short-sleeved shirt and a balaclava covering his face.
The birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll is no stranger to serious crime.
Memphis saw a whopping 202 homicides in 2024, more than anywhere else in America, according to the November findings of the Major Cities Chiefs Association Violent Crime Survey. It was only second to Los Angeles, which had 226 murders.

Last year, Memphis was tied with the City of Angels, with both reporting 249 homicides by 2023, according to the study. That year, they were only second behind Philadelphia, which had an unprecedented 329 homicides.
Yet Memphis still scores lower than both in terms of security on several factors other than platforms like WalletHub use to determine the overall safety of a population.
The Bluff City landed at the bottom of the safety survey among 182 other cities. It scored impressively low in categories such as home, community and financial security, on top of natural disaster risk.

In terms of financial security, the city ranked second to last, surpassed only by Detriot. In community and home safety, the city ranked 180th, barely edged out by New Orleans and Baton Rouge, La.
Its best ranking was in the natural disasters category, where it surpassed 81 other cities.
Meanwhile, even cities in New York turned out to be safer, the studies show.
Yonkers was the 6th safest city in WalletHub’s survey, ranking as the third safest in terms of home and community, 29th in natural disaster risk and 139th in financial safety.
South Burlington, Virginia; Casper, Wy., Warwick, Rhode Island, Burlington, Virginia; and Boise, Idaho, were in the top five safest cities overall.
