He said the sponsorship money would allow him to focus more on marketing the site, which was already used by 300 people and has about 200 listings from across the country.

Moffett launched the New Zealand School Uniform website in May, which was designed to connect buyers and sellers to purchase school uniforms in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way.

He has since renamed it Get Uniformed, a decision to make it easier to find online.

“It definitely feels good. There is a review section on the site and I have received a lot of positive feedback on that.”

Drury and Moffett also share a secondary school, having both attended Napier Boys’ High School.

The youngster said he was inspired by Drury’s work ethic and initiatives “built from the ground up,” and said he wanted to follow a similar path.

Moffett said the past seven months had been a great learning experience, learning everything from building the website, maintaining it and marketing it to users.

“I recently asked him if there was any Rod Drury wisdom he could impart and he said he had to get in touch.”

Moffett hoped more parents would buy into the idea, especially toward the end of the school year.

“I expect hopefully a lot of advertising and when school starts again, or a few weeks before that, hopefully more sales will come in.”

Drury, the former CEO of Xero, told us Hawke’s Bay today he was approached by Moffett.

“He did well and that’s why I was happy to support him. It is a great initiative.”
